Financial Planning

The Financial Planning Standards Council of Canada states that Financial planning is more than a set of tactics. Financial planning is a process that determines how you can best meet your life goals through the proper management of your financial affairs.

Looking at the big picture

The key to effective financial planning is the ability to take into account all relevant aspects of your financial situation (“the big picture”), and to identify and analyze the interrelationships among sometimes conflicting objectives. This unique integration of knowledge and skills across a broad range of topics distinguishes professional financial planning from other related financial advice or “planning in isolation”.

At the Angus Watt Advisory Group we have several certified financial planners working on our team to provide the key elements of financial planning;

  • Financial Management
  • Estate planning
  • Retirement planning
  • Tax Planning
  • Risk Management
  • Investment and Asset Allocation

Comprehensive planning includes outlining your current financial position, explores ways of increasing the value of your assets for you and your estate. The planning process includes a review of your current and future income tax liabilities and avenues for minimizing your tax liabilities. We will review your Wills, Enduring Powers of Attorney and Personal Directives as well as business documents such as Shareholder Agreements to ensure they work together. We use specialized software to run pre-retirement and long term retirement illustrations. Risk Management looks at the areas where you may be at risk for an illness, injury, accident or other uncontrollable happening. We look at liquidity needs now and in the event of a pre-mature death.
